See Merryanbone's Wool Fashion Vision Brigid McLaughlin's passion for design is to be the main feature of the fashion parade at Nyngan Ag Expo on Saturday, August 4th. Raised on Merryanbone Merino stud between Nyngan and Warren, the McLaughlin family has great faith in wool as a fashion product for the future. Fashion was Brigid's interest from an early age. A graduate of the University of Sydney with a Bachelor in Arts majoring in fine arts, she went on to gain her Fashion Design Diploma from the National Art School, East Sydney, graduating with a distinction. Success in the International Smirnoff Design Competition led to Brigid taking on the role of designer for the newly-launched Charlie Brown brand. After six months, Brigid's responsibilities were extended to include design for the Lili label for the Discovery Group. Travelling extensively through Europe, Brigid spent a year in London working with Issey Miyake, one of the world's most innovative design companies. On returning to Australia in 2001, she was offered the role of head design at David Lawrence and played a key role in determining it's position in today's market place in relation to the brand image and the product plan. From 2004 to 2005, Brigid was head of design, Lisa Ho, where she shared Lisa's passion for vintage-inspired detail and enjoyed working on a luxurious product. Brigid was responsible for designing the Lisa Ho range, managing the sample room and improving fit and quality standards. Drinks and nibbles will be served before the 2pm parade - an entry fee will be applicable.
